Using Personal Directory With Cisco IP Phone User Options
From the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, you can add, modify, and delete personal address book and personal fast-dial entries. Once you have configured your entries, you can use them for easy dialing on your Cisco IP Phone model 7960 or 7940.

Use the following procedure to find entries in your personal address book.
Step 1 From the User Options Menu window in the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, click the Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.

Use the following procedure to add an address book entry.
Step 1 From the User Options Menu window in the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, click the Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.

Step 2 Click the Add New Entry link in the upper, right corner.
The Address Book window displays.
Step 3 Enter the appropriate information, and click Insert.
Use the following procedure to edit an address book entry.
Step 1 Find the entry that you want to edit in the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, as described in 'Finding Personal Address Book Entries' section.
Step 2 Click the entry that you want to edit.
The Address Book Entry window displays.
Step 3 Make the necessary changes, and click Update.
Use the following procedure to delete entries from your personal address book.
Step 1 Find the entry that you want to delete in the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, as described in 'Finding Personal Address Book Entries' section.
Step 2 Check the check boxes next to the entries that you want to delete. To choose all displayed entries, check the check box in the title bar above the address book list.
Step 3 Click Delete Selected.
A confirmation dialog box displays.
Step 4 To delete the chosen entries, click OK.
You create personal fast-dial entries by assiging index numbers (from 1 to 99) to your personal address book entries and to other directory numbers. The personal fast-dial entries allow quick dialing from your Cisco IP Phone model 7960 or 7940. Use this procedure to create a personal fast-dial entry.

Step 3 Click the index number that you want to use for your fast-dial entry.
The Fast Dial Entry window displays.
If you have already assigned an entry to an index, the Fast Dial Entry window displays the details of that entry. You can unassign it as described in the 'Removing Personal Fast Dials Entries' section.
Step 4 Perform one of the following actions:
To use a directory number in your personal address book, click the Personal Address Book Entry radio button, choose an entry from the list box, and choose a directory number from the Choose a directory number drop-down list box.
To use a directory number that is not in your personal address book, click the Enter in a directory number radio button and enter the directory number.
Step 5 Click Insert.
The Cisco IP Phone User Options application saves your entry. For information on how to use the entry to make a call, see the 'Dialing a Personal Fast Dials Entry' section.
Use the following procedure to remove (or unassign) a personal fast dial.
Step 1 From the User Options Menu window in the Cisco IP Phone User Options application, choose a device to configure, such as your primary phone.

Step 2 Click the Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.
The Find and List Personal Address Book Entries window displays.

Overview Cisco 7961 has a screen with a graphical display that makes the phone easy to operate. There are also soft keys that are programmable for up to 6 phone lines, voicemail access and options for hands free communication. You can use hands free communication by using the built in speakerphone or adding a hands free handset to the telephone unit. The soft keys are located under the telephone display screen. They allow the user to change their function based on the need.
Basic Operation Press the “Check Box” icon. This will give you access to the user settings such as ringtones. Below the feature button, you will find the volume button. Use the “Volume Setting” button to adjust the speaker and handset volume. There are three more buttons under the volume button. The “Headset” icon allows users to activate or deactivate use of the headset. The “Microphone” icon allows users to enable and disable the mute feature. The “Speaker” icon activates or deactivates the speakerphone. You can directly dial calls by picking up the handset and using the keypad to dial your call. You can also choose the line that you want to make the call on. The Line buttons are to the right of the display. Select the desired line and dial the number using the keypad. Hands Free Calling You may use the headset or the speakerphone option for hands free calling. Press the “Answer” button, “Speaker” button or press the blinking line to answer the call hands free. When the call is complete, press the “Speaker” button again to end the call. If you have attached a hands free headset to your Cisco 7961 phone, press the “Answer” button to connect with an incoming call. When you are ready to end the call but you want to keep your headset active, press “End Call”. If you want to discontinue using the headset, press the “Headset” button to hang up your call. If you have a call in progress but you need to answer another incoming call, simply press the “Answer” button or the button that is blinking amber to place the original call on hold and answer the incoming call.
